Round Wave Pendant

Erg Chebbi Dunes

The Sahara Desert is the largest hot desert on the planet, with an area of more than 9 million square kilometres occupying 30% of the surface of the African continent. Its extension crosses 10 countries: Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Nigeria, Tunisia, Chad, Mali and Sudan. The word 'Sahara' means desert in Arabic. The Sahara desert has the largest expanse of dunes in the world. In Algeria extends the Great Western Erg, a huge mobile extension of dunes. Legend has it that the dunes of Erg Chebbi were divine punishment sent to the locals for having driven away a group of nomads who sought refuge there when in the desert, and according to a command in this region, "one never refuses shelter to those in need." The dunes of the Erg Chebbi are really impressive both by extension and by height, reaching up to 250m. The golden dunes have a life of their own, moving slowly along the length of the desert. This golden wavy along an arid and barren stretch captivates visitors and was inspiration for the circular pendant embroidered with wavy dunes.
